Halo Lit Logo

A halo lit logo turns every separate part of your mark into its own 3D piece, in stainless steel or acrylic, with LEDs inside that light the wall behind it. Fine detail, stroke widths, colors and finishes are made to your artwork, for lobbies, reception walls and storefronts, and every logo is UL Listed with a 3-year limited warranty.

What Is a Halo Lit Logo?

Monogram logo built as separate 3D pieces, each one ringed by light on a dark wall

Each part of the logo that stands apart from the rest is built as a separate sign, with its own shell, LEDs and circuit. The light leaves the back of every piece and draws the outline of the logo on the wall, while the faces stay unlit.

Lit, the pieces seem to float in a ring of light, and the mark gains a depth no printed or painted logo has. Unlit, it is still a solid, dimensional logo in a brushed, mirror-polished, plated or painted finish, so it holds up with the lights on and with them off.

That is why halo lit logos sit behind reception desks and in hotel and office lobbies, where visitors pass close, and on storefronts and shop walls, where the mark has to carry. For how letter size and spacing affect reading distance, see our guide to halo lit letters.

How the Halo Effect Works

Light from each piece bounces off the wall around it, so the logo shows as solid shapes ringed with light. The model decides where the light leaves, and the mounting, the wall color and the light color shape the glow from there. Our guide to reverse lit channel letters explains those in detail.

How They Are Built

Our shop drawings show every piece of your logo, its size and how it mounts, for you to approve before production. Each separate part also needs room inside for its own LEDs, which sets a minimum height, and the finest details can go into a light box instead. Compare the builds in Halo Lit Logo Models below, where each card links to the full specifications.

Every stroke has to hold LEDs. If a line in your logo is too thin, we suggest the smallest change that keeps the design and note it in the quote. These are the minimum stroke widths by model:

  • Basic Metal Halo Lit Signs: 3/8 in (10 mm) outdoors, or about 5/16 in (8 mm) indoors depending on the font
  • Pro Metal Halo Lit Signs and Face & Halo Lit Signs: 3/8 in (10 mm)
  • Acrylic Halo Lit Signs, Side-Lit Signs and Face & Side-Lit Signs: 13/16 in (21 mm)
  • Halo Effect Light Box Signs: 3/16 in (5 mm)

Where They Work Best

Logos most often go on the wall behind a reception desk or in an office or hotel lobby, where visitors stand close enough to notice the finish. They work just as well on storefronts and in shops, coffee shops and salons.

For a logo wall seen up close, Acrylic Halo Lit Signs keep fine detail, and Pro Metal Halo Lit Signs show detail with a brighter halo. A logo with a slogan can mix lit and unlit parts in one quote. Our guide to halo lit business signs matches models to each kind of space.

How to Choose a Halo Lit Logo

A halo lit logo is chosen from the inside out. Start with the smallest detail in your mark and the distance it will be seen from, then settle the finish and the light. Send the logo as a vector file with a photo of the wall, and we will suggest a model when we quote.

Production starts only after you approve the shop drawings, every logo is lit for 24 hours and photographed before it ships, and the 3-year limited warranty covers it from there. To put the models side by side, compare all our models, and here is how ordering works.

Detail
For complex shapes and fine edges, the shells of Acrylic Halo Lit Signs are CNC engraved. Pro Metal Halo Lit Signs hold detail too and light the wall more brightly.
Finish
Brushed, mirror-polished and plated stainless steel give a metal look. Paint gives a solid color mixed to your brand's color code, while powder coat comes only in ready-made colors such as black and white. Any finish shows clearly in daylight or in a well-lit room. At night, with little light around, people farther away mostly see each letter as a silhouette against its halo, and the finish shows only up close.
Light
White halos, in white, natural white or warm white, read cleanest on a logo wall. Colored and color-changing light is possible too, and we confirm it against the details of your artwork.
Halo
Pro Metal Halo Lit Signs light the wall brightly from their exposed acrylic, and Basic Metal Halo Lit Signs have the edge for large logos.
Mounting
Most models mount flush. Basic Metal Halo Lit Signs stand off the wall on tube spacers.

Halo Lit Logo FAQ

The paint can, on every model. We mix it to your Pantone, RAL, Sherwin-Williams or Matthews Paint number. The light itself can't be matched to a color code, so we use the nearest of our light colors.

Yes. The light stays steady on camera, and a remote lets you dim the logo to suit your studio lighting.

Every separate part of the logo needs 3-15/16 in (100 mm) of height to fit its own LEDs. For finer details, such as small text inside a logo, our Halo Effect Light Box Signs work with lettering of 1-9/16 in (40 mm).

Yes. Colored halos and color-changing halos are made with controllable RGB and RGBW LEDs, and the light is never matched to a Pantone code. RGB and RGBW LEDs are usually larger than single-color LEDs and need more room inside each piece, so whether your logo can be made in color is settled from the details of your vector file.

Halo Lit Logo Models

These models are made as halo lit logos. Each model page has full specifications, sample cases and PDF diagrams.

Basic Metal Halo Lit Signs

Every letter or logo piece has its own separate fabricated metal shell, stainless steel by default. An opal acrylic back panel sits fully inside the shell, so it can't be seen from the front or the sides. They have the edge for large logos and sit a short distance off the wall for a soft halo.

Pro Metal Halo Lit Signs

Every letter or logo piece has its own separate fabricated metal shell, stainless steel by default, with a stepped acrylic back panel that sits partly inside the shell and partly outside it. Their exposed acrylic lights the wall brightly, and they have the edge for showing detail in a logo.

Side-Lit Signs

Every letter or logo piece has its own separate acrylic shell, mostly CNC engraved and sometimes fabricated, with a solid face of painted acrylic, black acrylic or a metal plate. The face of each piece stays solid, so the logo keeps its shape while the sides glow.

Face & Halo Lit Signs

Every letter or logo piece has its own separate shell, which can be built in many ways, in fabricated metal (stainless steel by default) or in acrylic. The face glows, while light from the back lights up the wall behind it and forms a halo around the outline. The face of each piece glows too, and vinyl can give it a different color from the halo.

Halo Effect Light Box Signs

Some letters or logos are too small to be made as individual lit letters, yet still need to light up and have a halo. For them, a halo effect light box is the only way to do it. All the LEDs sit together in one metal box. They hold logo parts too small for individual shells inside one lit box.
